Martha Lutt founded Exemplar Enterprises, Inc. in Oxnard, California after years of managing the family’s janitorial business. At just sixteen years of age, Ms. Lutt oversaw marketing, human resources, scheduling, and quality control related matters. The challenges she faced and overcame became the stepping stones to her reputable wholly woman-owned janitorial and groundskeeping business, Exemplar Enterprises.
Prior to founding Exemplar Enterprises, Ms. Lutt detoured from the family business to pursue her goal of becoming a registered nurse. She accomplished her goal and further cemented her resilience and persistence to succeed. As a registered nurse, Ms. Lutt has gained both intellectual and emotional maturity through emotionally charged situations, where life and death are literally in the balance.
As years passed and while enjoying her career as a registered nurse, Ms. Lutt pondered over the role that she had played in the success of the family business. In time, she discerned that she had gained enough rich experiences to frame her own janitorial and groundskeeping business.
Her company has successfully partnered and serviced iconic buildings and grounds throughout the United States, such as air force bases, capitol buildings and international airports.
In 2015, Exemplar Enterprises was awarded the Building Maintenance and Operations (BMO) strategic sourcing solution, under the small business set aside. This multiple award solution gives government agencies a more streamlined process for acquiring facility maintenance and operations services, including electrical maintenance, janitorial, landscaping, fire alarm and suppression system maintenance, commissioning and more.
